Ninth-ranked Mykolaiv (14-17) gave a tough game to second ranked Azovmash (21-8) in Mariupol on Thursday. Azovmash managed to secure only two-point victory 90-88. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 48-40 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Mykolaiv helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for point guard Lynn Greer (186-79, college: Temple) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 assists. Guard Manny Harris (196-89, college: Michigan) helped adding 19 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side guard Josh Mayo (182-87, college: Ill.-Chicago, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) responded with 25 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and center Krys Faber (208, college: De Paul) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Azovmash have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 21-8 record behind leader Budivelnyk. Mykolaiv at the other side keeps the ninth position with 17 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
