Regular Season Round 22: Monaco - Rennes 80-75

Very expected game when 15th ranked Union Rennes (4-16) lost on the road to ninth ranked Monaco (10-8) 80-75. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Union Rennes won third quarter 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Monaco made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Monaco had a 32-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Guard Anthony Christophe (190-83) fired a triple-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 16 assists for the winners. Naturalized Tunisian power forward Mehdi Labeyrie-Hafsi (203-78) chipped in 21 points. American forward Alex Okafor (202-87, college: Princeton) produced a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds and forward Bernard M'Poy (197-87) added 21 points respectively for lost side. Union Rennes' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Monaco moved-up to seventh place. Union Rennes lost ninth consecutive game. Union Rennes at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifteenth position with 16 games lost. Monaco's next round opponent will be Sorgues (#8) at home. Union Rennes will play against Blois (#9).
