Regular Season Round 29: London L. - Summerside S. 118-114 OT

Date: February 23, 2013
The Summerside Storm lost a heart breaker in London Ontario in overtime, falling 118 to 114 to the London Lightning. The Lightning avenged a 19 point loss at the hands of the Storm in January. The Storm held their own with the top team in the league. Outscoring the Lightening 24- 20, in the first period and 27 to 25 in the second. The Storm’s Brandon Robinson led the team with a 28 point night with Josh Turner putting in 21 points. But the Lightning’s Marvin Phillips equalled Robinson's output draining 28 points for the home team with support from DeAnthony Bowden with 20. London took the lead by 2 in the third, outscoring the Summerside squad 2 to 24. But the Island team fought back to tie the contest at the buzzer, holding off the Lightnting 25 to 23 in the final period setting up overtime. There was little to choose between the two teams. Both had 23 assists while London had an advantage in steals 11 to 7. The Storm had 23 turnovers to London’s 18 and Summerside committed 25 fouls to the Lightening’s 19. The Storm were strong in the paint, scoring 62 points to 44 for London but managed only 4 points off turnovers to the Lightning‘s 12.. The Storm were without Omari Johnson who was a healthy scratch for the game against the London Lightning for breaking the teams code of conduct. "I am disappointed with Omari. We have team policies in place for a reason and hold our players to high standards. Some other guys will have to step up in his absence tonight in what is a big game for us," said head coach Joe Salerno. Phillips was strong on the boards for London, grabbing 19 rebounds. Robinson led the Storm with 9. Courtesy of: journalpioneer.com
