The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Aishin Sea Horses (27-7) in Kariya on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Toshiba Thunders (21-13) 84-67. Toshiba Thunders made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Chris Moss (204-80, college: W.Virginia) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. The former international power forward J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) answered with 9 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international point guard Shinsuke Kashiwagi (183-81) added 6 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Aishin Sea Horses. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toshiba Thunders have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain third place with 21-13 record having six points less than leader Aishin SH. Aishin Sea Horses at the other side still keep top position with seven games lost. They share it with Toyota Alvark. Toshiba Thunders are looking forward to face Panasonic Trians (#4) in Osaka in the next round. Aishin Sea Horses will play on the road against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
