Regular Season Round 111: Detroit P. - Indiana P. 72-90

Date: February 23, 2013
Returning home to The Palace did nothing for the Detroit Pistons in Saturday night's rematch with the Indiana Pacers. In fact, it could be argued they played even worse than in Friday's 32-point blowout loss to the Pacers in Indianapolis. Luckily for the Pistons, Indiana wasn't a whole lot better in the rematch or it could have gotten really ugly. As it was, tt one point in the third quarter it looked like the Pistons might threaten the team record the fewest points ever scored in one game. They were spared that indignity but instead were saddled with the fewest points they've scored in a game this season. The Pistons lost fourth straight this season and fifth in a row overall to the Pacers by a score of 90-72. The setback came on the heels of Friday's 114-82 loss in Indiana, the Pistons most one-sided defeat of the season. The fewest points the Pistons had scored this season came in a 90-74 loss Nov. 21 in Orlando. That was the game that saw the Magic score 21 straight points to start the second half. The last time they scored fewer points was in an 83-71 loss March 30, 2012 at Chicago. The Pistons' team record for the fewest points in one game is 64. It happened on three occasions, twice at home (vs. Toronto and Utah) and once on the road (in San Antonio). The Pistons got off to a terrible start for the second straight night and were fortunate to be down by 11 at halftime. One night after scoring 11 of the game's first 13 points, Indiana ripped off the first 10 in the rematch as the Pistons missed their seven straight shots to start the game, 16 of their first 17 and 22 of 25. Will Bynum provided a spark off the bench, making four straight at one point to help the Pistons take a 21-20 lead with 7:30 left in the half before Indiana finished the second quarter on a 10-2 run to lead 39-28 at halftime. Bynum, who finished with 15 points, was ejected with 8:39 left after getting called for a Flagrant Two foul during an altercation with Tyler Hansbrough. Jose Calderon scored 13, Greg Monroe had 12 points and 12 rebounds and Rodney Stuckey scored 11. Courtesy of: mlive.com
