Regular Season Round 24: Angers BC 49 - Rennes 85-60
Date: March 2, 2013
There was no surprise when 15th ranked Union Rennes (4-18) was crushed on the road by thirteenth ranked Angers BC 49 (8-13) 85-60. The game without a history. Angers BC 49 led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Angers BC 49 outrebounded Union Rennes 43-26 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by guard Thibaut Lonzieme (195-89) who scored that evening 24 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Anthony Hill (204-88, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) supported him with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Four Angers BC 49 players scored in double figures. Even 16 points and 7 rebounds by center Said Ben Driss (206-85) did not help to save the game for Union Rennes. American forward Alex Okafor (202-87, college: Princeton) added 9 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Angers BC 49 moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with St Chamond. Union Rennes lost eleventh consecutive game. Newly promoted Union Rennes keeps the fifteenth position with 18 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
