Regular Season Round 132: Philadelph.76 - Indiana P. 98-91
Date: March 16, 2013
In a dominating performance, Spencer Hawes had 18 points and career highs of 16 rebounds and 7 blocked shots to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 98-91 victory at home over the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night. Jrue Holiday added 27 points and 12 assists to help the 76ers win for only the third time in 15 games. They are one of the worst road teams in the league but are 19-17 at home. “I really like the nucleus we have here and what we’ve built here,” Hawes said. “This year has been tough on everybody. I think if we can keep the right mind-set going forward, and finish out strong, I think the future is bright.” Philadelphia, which ended the third quarter leading by a point, opened the fourth with a 19-4 run to put away the Pacers. Evan Turner and Thaddeus Young each contributed lead-stretching buckets in the fourth. “It’s fun when the ball is moving,” Holiday said. “I think I got most of my points just from, actually from Spencer, just somebody passing it backdoor.” Hawes, a much-criticized 7-foot-1 center, outplayed Indiana’s Roy Hibbert, who had 25 points and 10 rebounds. Hawes has settled in as a starter after an erratic first 42 games as a reserve. His fantastic one-handed rebound over Hibbert in the third quarter brought many of the 18,587 fans to their feet.
