No shocking result in a game when second ranked Al-Qazeres (15-4) crushed 7th ranked Oviedo (8-11) in Caceres 65-44 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Al-Qazeres. Oviedo was better in fourth quarter 20-6. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Oviedo to just 7 points in second quarter. Al-Qazeres held Oviedo to an opponent 22.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 50.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Al-Qazeres had a 32-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for Samba Ndeye who led her team to a victory with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Center Alejandra De La De La Fuente (192-88) contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Al-Qazeres players scored in double figures. Sara Fernandez Alvarez (-87) answered with 4 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Andrea Malanda (164-90) added 9 points in the effort for Oviedo. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Al-Qazeres maintains second place in Group A with 15-4 record having five points less than leader Pais Vasco. Oviedo lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 11 games lost. Al-Qazeres will face Arxil Pontevedra (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Oviedo will play against the league's leader Cortegada (#1) in Vilagarcia Arousa.
