Date: March 28, 2013
NBB top team - Flamengo (28-3) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed fifteenth ranked Palmeiras (10-22) in Rio de Janeiro 81-61. The game was mostly controlled by Flamengo. Palmeiras managed to win third quarter 22-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Flamengo made 7 blocks. The former international Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) nailed 23 points for the winning side and the former international Olivinha Rodriguez (202-83) accounted for 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four Flamengo players scored in double figures. American guard Caleb Brown (182-87, college: Austin Peay St.) came up with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international power forward Tiago Lima (201-81) added 15 points respectively for Palmeiras in the defeat. Flamengo have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 28-3 record. Loser Palmeiras keeps the fifteenth position with 22 games lost. Flamengo will again meet at home Palmeiras (#15) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Palmeiras will have a break next round.
