We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 6th ranked Akita Happinets (22-22) were outplayed on the road by seventh ranked Sendai 89ers (18-26) 94-71 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Sendai 89ers. Akita Happinets was better in second period 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sendai 89ers dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Akita Happinets' 26. They outrebounded Akita Happinets 53-28 including a 40-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sendai 89ers looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Akita Happinets' players. The best player for the winners was American forward T.J. Cummings (205-81, college: UCLA) who scored 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
