Regular Season Round 148: Minnesota T. - Boston C. 110-100

Date: April 1, 2013
The Boston Celtics lost tonight to the Minnesota Timberwolves 110 to 100 at the Target Center in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Celtics were playing without the Captain Paul Pierce and former Timberwolf Kevin ‘The Big Ticket’ Garnett. Not so ironically this was also the first time the Timberwolves have beat the Celtics since the KG trade to Boston, the last time we lost to them was on a Ricky Davis buzzer beater February 11, 2007. The story of the game was turnovers and fouls, the Celtics turned the ball over early and often giving up easy fast break baskets to the Wolves. The Celtics coughed the ball up 17 times tonight, and allowed 23 fast break points. All night the refs called everything extremely close; a lot of calls were ticky-tacky calls in my opinion. Even though the Timberwolves dominated the free throw battle, 25 to 9 makes, it felt like the refs were calling it close both ways .The Celtics did make a strong comeback as they were down 14 midway through the third and came back to be within 6 going into the 4th quarter. The killer was Nikola Pekovic who almost single handedly fouled out what was left of the Celtics decimated front line, he finished with 29 points. Ricky Rubio also played well despite being in foul trouble, with 9 points and 10 assists. The Celtics leading scorer was Avery Bradley, who bounced back offensively scoring 19 points. Both Terrence Williams and Jason Terry stood out to me as playing solid games as the both chipped in 14 points. The Celtics return home Wednesday to face the Detroit Pistons at the Garden.
