Quarter-Finals Round 1: Azovmash - BC Donetsk 102-93

Azovmash made the first step towards the semifinal stage as they rolled past BC Donetsk in Mariupol. It looked good early as BC Donetsk took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Azovmash had a 32-18 second period charge getting the lead and BC Donetsk was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 93-102. Strangely BC Donetsk outrebounded Azovmash 37-25 including 22 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. BC Donetsk was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Lynn Greer (186-79, college: Temple) nailed 29 points and 6 assists for the winning side and Serbian power forward Tadija Dragicevic (206-86, agency: Beo Basket) accounted for 25 points. Azovmash's coach Sergei Zavalin allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American-Trinidad and Tobago center D'or Fischer (211-81, college: W.Virginia) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international center Kyrylo Fesenko (213-86) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for BC Donetsk in the defeat. Four Azovmash and five BC Donetsk players scored in double figures.
