Regular Season Round 158: Dallas M. - Denver N. 108-105 OT
Date: April 12, 2013
Dirk Nowitzki and Vince Carter poured in 22 points apiece Friday night to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 108-105 overtime victory over the Denver Nuggets at American Airlines Center. That win brought the Mavs' record to 39-40 heading into Sunday's game in New Orleans. Darren Collison nailed a pair of free throws with 1.9 seconds left to put the Mavs up by three. The Nuggets then called two timeouts before Andre Iguodale air-balled a three-pointer at the buzzer. Carter put the Mavs ahead 106-103 with 1:52 left in overtime. The only other basket came when Denver's Kenneth Faried scored with 29.5 left to get the Nuggets within 106-105. Besides Nowitzki and Carter, the Mavs got 20 points from OJ Mayo and 15 from Shawn Marion. Mayo's three-point field goal with 34.1 seconds left in regulation put the Mavs up, 99-96. Denver's Andre Miller then split a pair of free throws, and Mavs' backup center Brandan Wright missed two charity tosses which would have gotten the Mavs a four-point lead with 21.7 seconds to go in regulation. Following a miss by Iguodala, the Mavs got the ball back with 10.5 seconds remaining in regulation. However, Miller stripped Mayo in the backcourt and that led to a layup by Corey Brewer which tied the game with 3.9 seconds to go and sent it into overtime after Mayo missed a layup at the buzzer. In a fight with the Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies for the No. 3 seed out West, the Nuggets got 18 points each from Brewer and Iguodala. The Mavs trailed by 11 points early on, but led 78-77 after the third quarter. Courtesy of: star-telegram.com
