Regular Season Round 160: Miami Heat - Chicago B. 105-93

Date: April 14, 2013
The Miami Heat were looking for revenge Sunday when they faced the Chicago Bulls, the same team who ended their 27-game win streak last month. And that's exactly what they got as they won the 105-93. Despite playing without Udonis Haslem and Shane Battier, the Heat suited up their stars to regain some rhythm against the pesky Bulls who always play the Heat tough. The Bulls were short-handed as well, as they were without Joakim Noah and Richard Hamilton. Although this game meant nothing to the Heat as they already have their playoff positioning and opponent determined (Milwaukee), the Bulls are still jostling for positioning. The Heat got off to a great start and had a double digit lead in the first quarter. Miami led by as many as 15 in the first half before the Bulls closed the half on a 23-10 run and trailed by only 2 at the break. Chicago took a 61-60 lead in the third before Miami started to take the game back despite not scoring a two point basket in over 15 minutes of the second half, but they did hit 6 three-pointers in the third. But the Bulls never went away. The Heat were able to keep the lead at a comfortable distance, but still close enough to keep them playing hard. Coach Spoelstra didn't withhold his players in this game as they played close to normal minutes. This was the first time all season that all five Heat starters scored in double figures. One of the reasons that the Heat were able to pull away from the Bulls was the play of Chris Andersen. The Birdman's full effect was on display this afternoon in Miami. Against the Bulls, Andersen had his best game of the season scoring 15 points, and also grabbing 7 rebounds. But ultimately, Miami rides and dies with its stars, and they played well enough to extract some revenge on Chicago and win their sixth straight game and improve to 64-16 on the season. LeBron James had 24 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists leading the way for the Heat. Dwyane Wade had 22 points, 4 assists and 4 rebounds. Chris Bosh added 12 points and 4 blocks, and Mario Chalmers added 15 as well. The Heat were able to regain some rhythm and played good basketball against a very well coached team. Luol Deng led the Bulls with 19 points who also had 6 players in double figures. The Bulls are now a game behind Atlanta for the fifth seed with 2 games remaining. Miami plays in Cleveland on Monday night. Courtesy of: hothothoops.com
