D League
Semi-Finals Game 1: Austin T. - Santa Cruz W. 101-106
Date: April 17, 2013
The Santa Cruz Warriors continued their payback tour through the D-League playoffs on Wednesday night by defeating the host Austin Toros 106-101 in Game 1 of their semifinal matchup at Cedar Park Center. Stefhon Hannah deposited a team-high 19 points and six assists and Jeremy Tyler added 17 points and six rebounds. Lance Goulbourne scored 12 points and had a team-high seven rebounds for the Warriors, who have won three straight postseason games since closing out the regular season on a three-game losing streak. The No. 3 Warriors will now have two chances to beat the No. 6 Toros at home. Game 2 is scheduled for Friday at Kaiser Permanente Arena at 6:30 p.m. Game 3, if necessary, will be held Monday in Santa Cruz at 6:30 p.m. Both games will be televised nationally on the CBS Sports Network. Wednesday's victory avenged an early season loss for the Warriors. After losing two games to Fort Wayne in the regular season, only to sweep the Mad Ants 2-0 in their opening round best-of-three series, the Warriors Wednesday reversed the outcome from their one and only prior meeting with Austin. Santa Cruz lost to the Toros 96-78 in January after being outscored in the second half by a 61-25 margin. Game 1 was a far different story. The Warriors used a 34-point second quarter to pull ahead of Austin at halftime and never trailed again in the game. Austin did pull to within three points with 7:01 remaining after Toros guard Chris Roberts drained a 3, but couldn't quite muster a comeback and the Warriors held on for the win. Austin's Lester Hudson led all scorers with 25 points, while JaMychal Green logged the lone double-double of the contest with 11 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Santa Cruz shot 48.8 percent from the field, compared to Austin's 43.9 percent. The Warriors held the edge on rebounds (46-39), assists (24-15) and steals (14-11), and committed fewer turnovers (21-20). Courtesy of: santacruzsentinel.com
