Regular Season Round 32: Rennes - Vichy 47-74

Date: April 20, 2013
No shocking result in a game when third ranked JA Vichy (20-9) smashed on the road 15th ranked Union Rennes (7-21) 74-47 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by JA Vichy. Union Rennes was better in second period 17-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. JA Vichy dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Union Rennes' 18. JA Vichy forced 26 Union Rennes turnovers. The best player for the winners was point guard Benjamin Thomas (181-82) who scored 26 points. Power forward Gregory Lessort (197-85) chipped in 14 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Senegalese guard El Kabir Pene (190-84) produced 14 points and forward Olivier Lamothe (201-79) added 12 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. JA Vichy moved-up to second place, which they share with Souffel. Newly promoted Union Rennes keeps the fifteenth position with 21 games lost. JA Vichy will have a break next round. Union Rennes will play on the road against Rueil (#9).
