Regular Season Round 28: Acea Virtus RM - Enel Brindisi 88-82
Date: April 21, 2013
Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Enel Brindisi (11-17) lost on the road to third ranked Lottomatica Roma (18-10) 88-82 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Enel Brindisi was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 9-point lead after three quarters before a 25-10 charge of Lottomatica Roma, which allowed them to win the game. They made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Lottomatica Roma forced 23 Enel Brindisi turnovers. Enel Brindisi was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Nigerian power forward Gani Lawal (205-88, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Three Eye Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. International forward Luigi Datome (203-87) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) replied with 22 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Scottie Reynolds (188-87, college: Villanova) added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Enel Brindisi. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Enel Brindisi's coach Pier Luigi Bucchi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lottomatica Roma maintains third position with 18-10 record having four points less than leader Cimberio VA. Newly promoted Enel Brindisi dropped to the eleventh place with 17 games lost. Lottomatica Roma will face bottom-ranked Angelico Biella (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Enel Brindisi will play against Oknoplast BO (#15) in Bologna.
