Quarter-Finals Round 1: Paulistano - Flamengo 91-100

Flamengo surged ahead in the quarterfinal series versus Paulistano. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-15. But Paulistano won third quarter 40-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Flamengo made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 17 long-distance shots on high 65.4 percentage. Paulistano was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Ghanian guard Kojo Mensah (193-85, college: Buffalo St., agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists (made all of his eight free throws). The former international Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) contributed with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American center Steven Toyloy (203-87, college: Cincinnati) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and international guard Elinho Corazza (193-89, college: Miami Dade CC) added 22 points and 6 assists in the effort for Paulistano. Five Flamengo and four Paulistano players scored in double figures. Paulistano's coach Gustavo Conti tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help.
