The game was mostly controlled by Leiden. Groningen was better in fourth quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Groningen 42-30 including 28 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Moroccan forward Mohamed Kherrazi (200-90, agency: R.H.Consultancy) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Canadian forward Ross Bekkering (203-87) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international center Thomas Koenis (206-89, agency: Court Side) answered with 11 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Jason Dourisseau (196-83, college: Nebraska) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Groningen. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
