Second Stage Round 9: MZT Skopje - Rabotnicki 100-85

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Skopje: MZT Skopje (#6) and Fersped-Rabotnicki (#3). MZT Skopje (8-1) won against visiting Fersped-Rabotnicki (12-11) 100-85. It looked good early as Fersped-Rabotnicki took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then MZT Skopje had a 22-9 second period charge getting the lead and Fersped-Rabotnicki was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 85-100. Fersped-Rabotnicki was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. International Damjan Stojanovski (197-87) stepped up and scored 28 points and 5 assists for the winners and the former international Gjorji Cekovski (203-79) chipped in 24 points. The best for the losing side was naturalized Serbian forward Nenad Zivcevic (204-87) with 19 points and 6 assists and American-Somalian forward Mohammed Abukar (208-85, college: San Diego St., agency: Two Points) scored 13 points. Four Fersped-Rabotnicki players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. MZT Skopje have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains sixth place with 8-1 record. Fersped-Rabotnicki at the other side keeps the third position with 11 games lost. They share it with Lirija. MZT Skopje will play against league's second-placed Feni Indistrija in Kavadarci in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fersped-Rabotnicki will play at home against Kumanovo 2009 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
