Banco di Sardegna cruised past Cantu in the first game of the series. The game without a history. Banco di Sard. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Banco di Sard. forced 19 Cantu turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Cantu was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Drake Diener (196-81, college: De Paul, agency: Priority Sports) stepped up and scored 20 points and 4 assists for the winners and naturalized Slovenian guard Sani Becirovic (196-81) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists. Four Banco di Sard. players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Joe Ragland (182-89, college: Wichita St.) responded with 14 points and 7 assists and American-Israeli center Alex Tyus (205-88, college: Florida) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
