Varese held off visiting Umana Reyer to surge ahead in the quarterfinal series. The game was mostly controlled by Cimberio Varese. Umana Venezia was better in second period 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American point guard Mike Green (185-85, college: Butler) stepped up and scored 25 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Bryant Dunston (202-86) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Four Cimberio Varese players scored in double figures. At the losing side Polish center Szymon Szewczyk (209-82) responded with 14 points and 9 rebounds and French forward Yakhouba Diawara (201-82, college: Pepperdine) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
