No shocking result in a game when third ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (14-12) beat at home 7th ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (9-17) 106-88 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Tijuana Zonkeys. Pioneros Los Mochis managed to win fourth quarter 28-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tijuana Zonkeys dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Pioneros Los Mochis' 36. Tijuana Zonkeys looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Tijuana Zonkeys made 8 blocks. Point guard Luis Ramirez (180-82) notched 33 points (!!!), 6 assists and 5 steals to lead the effort and American swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) supported him with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists. Five Tijuana Zonkeys players scored in double figures. Even 32 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals by American forward Devon Pearson (198-84, college: SMU) did not help to save the game for Pioneros Los Mochis. His fellow American import guard Phillippe Harris (180-85, college: Fayetteville St., agency: Athlete Management Group) added 28 points and 4 assists. Tijuana Zonkeys maintains third position with 14-12 record having ten points less than leader Hermosillo. Pioneros Los Mochis at the other side keep the seventh place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Obregon and Guasave. Tijuana Zonkeys will meet league's leader Rayos de Hermosillo on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
