Semi-Finals Game 6: Indiana P. - Miami Heat 91-77
Date: June 1, 2013
For the second consecutive year, the Miami Heat will be forced to win a Game 7 at home in the Eastern Conference finals to advance to the NBA Finals. The Heat were hit by a Pacers barrage in the third quarter Saturday night, falling 91-77 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and allowing Indiana to even the series at 3-3. Miami’s season is down to one game. The Heat must win Monday night’s Game 7 at AmericanAirlines Arena or they will face an offseason of questions and second guessing. The winner will face San Antonio in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night. Indiana turned a 40-39 halftime deficit into a 68-55 lead, outscoring Miami 29-15 in the third quarter. The Heat had four field goals (on 16 attempts) and six turnovers in the quarter. Miami cut the deficit to 72-68 with 5:52 left in the game, but Indiana scored the next nine points to ensure a Game 7. With Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade again ineffective, the Heat relied on James, who finished with 29 points. Wade scored 10 points and Bosh had five, missing all but one of his eight shots. Indiana again depended on Paul George (28 points) and Roy Hibbert (24) and continued to pound Miami on the boards with a 53-33 rebounding advantage. Indiana outscored Miami in the paint 44-22. The Heat were without their most effective big man in this series, reserve Chris Andersen, who was suspended for a game for knocking Pacers forward Tyler Hansbrough to the floor and then shoving him in the chest with two hands in Game 5. Miami coach Erik Spoelstra countered by dusting off Joel Anthony in the first quarter. Anthony, who had played seven minutes in the series before Saturday, played 28 minutes in Game 6, finishing with eight rebounds. He had as many offensive rebounds in his first two minutes (two) as Bosh has the entire series. Courtesy of: mypalmbeachpost.com
