Hermosillo gave little chance to Obregon cruising to a comfortable victory. The game without a history. Rayos de Hermosillo led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Rayos de Hermosillo outrebounded Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon 38-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international center Joaquin Villanueva (207-86) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. International point guard Steve Monreal (180-86, college: CS Monterey) chipped in 16 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. American Kenny Jones (198-84, college: Kentucky St., agency: Dream Team Management) produced 19 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Leroy Davis (200-81, college: Georgia St.) added 12 points respectively for the guests. Five Rayos de Hermosillo and four Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
