Pistoia overcame Brescia at home court to open the LegaDue championship series. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But C.de Latte BRE won third quarter 13-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded C.de Latte BRE 43-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by C.de Latte BRE helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of center Diego Fajardo (208-76, agency: Players Group) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds. Panamanian swingman Michael Hicks (194-76, college: Texas A&M-CC) contributed with 20 points for the winners. The former international power forward David Brkic (210-82, agency: Interperformances) answered with 19 points and American swingman J.R. Giddens (196-85, college: N.Mexico) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for C.de Latte BRE. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
