Venezuela earned the second consecutive victory at the FIBA Americas Championship. The hosts rallied past Dominican Republic for 2-1 record in Group B. Donta Smith nailed 19 points and grabbed 7 rebounds for the winners. Venezuela ensured a strong start to the game. They accounted for a 20:12 lead after ten minutes. Venezuela stretched the advantage in the second quarter. The home side secured a 38:28 halftime lead. Dominican Republic scored just 14 points in the third term as the home side boosted the gap at 11-point mark. The visitors finally tuned in offensively but it was too late as Venezuela escaped with the victory at the end. David Cubillan knocked down 12 points, while Rafael Perez added 11 points in the victory. James Feldeine answered with 19 points for Dominican Republic. Francisco Garcia had 12 points in the loss.
