Preliminary Round Day 4: DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - MEXICO 61-85

Mexico celebrated the third straight win at the FIBA Americas Championship. They cruised past Dominican Republic in Caracas today. Orlando Mendez-Valdez stepped up with 26 points to pace the winners. Dominican Republic fell at 1-2 record in Group B. Mexico got to a perfect start. They unleashed 29 points in the first quarter to gain a 9-point lead. Dominican Republic struggled to match their opponents in the second quarter. Mexico accumulated a 45:31 halftime advantage. Dominican Republic narrowed the deficit in the third quarter. They got within 12 points at the final break. But Mexico quickly bounced back. They went on a 25:13 rally in the fourth stanza and sealed the victory. Jorge Gutierrez and Gustavo Ayon chipped in 16 points each for the winning side. Jack Michael Martinez answered with 16 points for Dominican Republic. Francisco Garcia had 14 points in the loss.
