Preliminary Round Day 4: JAMAICA - PUERTO RICO 82-88

Puerto Rico earned a tough victory in the fourth day of action at the FIBA Americas Championship. They snatched win over Jamaica to improve at 4-0 record on top of Group A. Jose Juan Barea nailed 24 points to lead the Puerto Rican side. It was a lop-sided affair in the first half. Puerto Rico dominate every facet of the game. They clinched a 25:13 lead after the opening quarter. Puerto Rico stretched their lead in the second frame. They registered a 48:33 halftime advantage. But Jamaica bounced back in the third period. They unleashed 29 points in the quarter and got within one point at the final intermission. Jamaica surged ahead late in regulation 82:81. But Puerto Rico capped the game with seven unanswered points and eked out the victory. Renaldo Balkman provided 20 points, while Larry Ayuso added 17 points for the winning side. Samardo Samuels answered with 24 points for Jamaica. Oritseweyinmi Efejuku had 18 points in the loss.
