Venezuela proved their highest ambitions with another victory at the FIBA Americas Championship. The hosts outgunned Uruguay at the start of the Second Stage. Rafael Perez nailed 14 points to lead the charge. Venezuela dictated the tempo in the first half. They registered an 18:13 lead after the opening frame. Venezuela boosted their lead to 9 points 35:26 at the interval. The teams traded baskets throughout the third quarter. The scoreboard read 56:47 at the final intermission. Uruguay narrowed the distance in the final period but could not threaten the hosts as Venezuela marched to the victory. Miguel Marriaga finished with 10 points, while Heissler Guillent and Donta Smith had 9 points each for the winners. Nicolas Mazzarino answered with 18 points for Uruguay. Esteban Batista provided 17 points in the losing effort.
