Second Stage Day 9: CANADA - ARGENTINA 67-73

Argentina celebrated the crucial win at the FIBA Americas Championship. They overcame Canada to claim the semifinal appearance. The victory also booked the 2014 World Cup spot for Argentina. They will now face Mexico in the semis on Wednesday. Canada fell at 3-4 record and got eliminated from the title race. Canada got to the better start. The North Americas team gained an 18:13 lead after the opening frame. Argentina narrowed the gap in the second stanza. They got within 4 points at the interval 36:32. But the Latin American side erupted for 29 points in the third term and secured a 5-point advantage at the final intermission. Argentina limited their opponents to 11 points in the fourth quarter and sealed the victory at the end. Luis Scola finished with 28 points to pace the charge. Selem Safar contributed 18 points, while Facundo Campazzo added 10 points in the win. Cory Joseph answered with 19 points for Canada. Andrew Nicholson had 17 points in the defeat.
