Regular Season Round 2: Mazeikiai - Silute 82-67

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Mazeikiai (1-1) beat at home higher ranked Silute (1-1) 82-67. It looked good early as Silute took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Mazeikiai had a 25-13 second period charge getting the lead and Silute was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-82. Mazeikiai dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Silute's 26. They outrebounded Silute 39-27 including a 14-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard Mindaugas Reminas (186-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Gytis Pakalniskis (205-89) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Mazeikiai players scored in double figures. Swingman Tomas Lekunas (200-93) replied with 21 points and 6 assists and center Edgaras Sosnovskis (205-91) added 12 points in the effort for Silute. Mazeikiai left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Silute. Mazeikiai will play against Nafta Univers.
