Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Telekom Bsk and 9th ranked ratiopharm Ulm had identical 2-1 record. But ratiopharm Ulm was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Bonn 77-74 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 23-9 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jamel McLean (203-88, college: Xavier) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and Lithuanian guard Benas Veikalas (192-83, college: Metro St.) who added 19 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four Telekom Bsk players scored in double figures. At the losing side American center Trent Plaisted (211-86, college: BYU, agency: Priority Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and international point guard Per Guenther (185-88) scored 17 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Telekom Bsk have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with NY Phantoms and Art.Dragons. Loser ratiopharm Ulm dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. Telekom Bsk will face higher ranked Phoenix Hagen (#3) at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. ratiopharm Ulm will play against Mitteldeutscher BC (#16) in Weissenfels.
