Regular Season Round 4: Iskra Svit - Nova Ves 102-75
Date: October 14, 2013
Bottom-ranked Nova Ves (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 102-75 loss to second ranked Iskra Svit (4-1) in Svit. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The game without a history. Iskra Svit led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Nova Ves' 46. Iskra Svit players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Lakeem Jackson (196-89, college: S.Carolina) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eleven shots !!!). The other American import center Tyronne McNeal (211-87, college: Lapua) contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. McNeal is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Iskra Svit players scored in double figures. American center Deshawn Painter (206-90, college: ODU) replied with 22 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Vladimir Hovanak (193-82) added 9 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Nova Ves. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Iskra Svit have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 4-1 record having just -1 point less than leader Nitra, which they share with Inter Bratislava. Nova Ves at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Iskra Svit will play against Rieker KN (#6) in Komarno in the next round. Nova Ves will have a break next round.
