Undefeated leader Kyoto Hannar. delivered the fifth consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they beat 5th ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (3-4) 83-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hamamatsu Phoenix. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hamamatsu Phoenix won fourth quarter 23-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for Puerto Rican-American swingman Edwin Ubiles (198-86, college: Siena) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points. American center Chris Holm (212-84, college: Vermont) helped adding 9 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side American guard Jermaine Dixon (191-87, college: Pittsburgh) responded with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Deshawn Stephens (203-89, college: San Diego St.) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Four Hamamatsu Phoenix players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Kyoto Hannar.. They maintain first place with 5-0 record, which they share with Toyama Grouses and Osaka Evessa. Loser Hamamatsu Phoenix keeps the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Fukuoka Rizing and Aomori Watts. Kyoto Hannar. will again meet at home Hamamatsu Phoenix (#5) in the next round. Hamamatsu Phoenix will have a break next round.
