Regular Season Round 8: Triobet - Vilnius-MRU 70-61

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Triobet (4-3) beat 9th ranked Vilnius-MRU (3-5) in Jonava 70-61 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 16-9. But Vilnius-MRU won second period 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by guard Ricardas Verbickas (186-95) who scored that evening 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Evaldas Aniulis (186-92, college: High School) supported him with 7 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 15 points by point guard Paulius Semaska (186-93) did not help to save the game for Vilnius-MRU. Forward Karolis Brusokas (200-91) added 9 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Triobet maintains sixth position with 4-3 record, which they share with Delikatesas. Loser Vilnius-MRU dropped to the tenth place with five games lost. They share the position with Zanavykas. Triobet will meet Suduva-Mantinga (#8) in the next round. Vilnius-MRU will play against the league's leader Trakai and hope to secure a win.
