Regular Season Round 4: Azovmash - DniproAzot 69-60

Bottom-ranked DniproAzot (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 69-60 loss to seventh ranked Azovmash (2-1) in Mariupol on Wednesday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But DniproAzot won fourth quarter 15-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Australian-Dutch power forward Daniel Kickert (208-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard Derrick Low (196-86, college: Washington St.) who added 12 points and 12 assists during the contest. Five Azovmash players scored in double figures. Azovmash's coach Sergei Zavalin used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Lithuanian point guard Gediminas Maceina (188-84) responded with 12 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Donald Sims (185-87, college: Appalachian St.) scored 16 points. Azovmash moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser DniproAzot still closes the standings with four games lost. Azovmash will meet at home Ferro-ZNTU (#7) in the next round. DniproAzot will have a break next round.
