Regular Season Round 5: Darussafaka - Pertevniyal 70-53

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Darussafaka as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Darussafaka defeated 9th ranked Pertevniyal in Istanbul 70-53. The game without a history. Darussafaka led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The best player for the winners was American point guard Lynn Greer (186-79, college: Temple) who scored 20 points. The former international forward Ersin Goerkem (195-77) chipped in 11 points. Darussafaka's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Marvin Jefferson (206-86, college: Idaho) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Bulut Altin (188-93) added 11 points respectively for the guests. Darussafaka (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Yesilgiresun. Pertevniyal at the other side keeps the ninth place with three games lost. They share the position with 6 other teams. Pertevniyal will play next round against Bandirma Kir. trying to get back on the winning streak. Darussafaka will try to continue on its current victory against eighteenth ranked Istanbul DSI. It will be extra interesting game as Istanbul DSI is their local rival from Istanbul.
