Regular Season Round 6: Matera - Lucca 78-90

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Lucca (3-3) defeated on the road one of their biggest challengers Matera (3-3) 90-78 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Lucca. Matera was better in second period 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They were well out of reach of Matera shooting 73.3 percent from the field and made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. Lucca had a 22-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for point guard Davide Parente (188-83) who led his team to a victory with 22 points. American point guard Michael Deloach (183-86, college: Norfolk St.) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Naturalized Argentinian guard Carlos Sebastian Vico (190-86, agency: Players Group) replied with 21 points and 4 assists and point guard Carlo Cantone (187-85) added 12 points and 7 assists in the effort for Matera. Five Lucca and four Matera players scored in double figures. Lucca moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 6 other teams including defeated Matera. Lucca will face P.Mantovana (#12) in Mirandola in the next round where they are favorite.
