Regular Season Round 2: Brampton A's - Mississauga P. 107-95
Date: November 5, 2013
The Brampton A's move to 3-0, spoiling the Mississauga Power's home opener with a 107-95 victory yesterday. The A's got out to a fast start and took an early lead over the Power, shooting 49% from the field in the first half, and holding the Power to just 37% from the field. The Power came out firing in the third quarter, on the hot hand of Nick Okorie who finished with 23 points, and cut the half time deficit from 12 down to 6, outscoring the A's 37-31 in the quarter. Okorie got some help from his man in the middle Dwight McCombs, who poured in 21 points to go along with 11 rebounds. As the final quarter began, the A's would look to the veteran Cedric Moodie as he went 5/10 from 3pt range, and finished with 21 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists. Evaldas Zabas chipped in 20 points, along with big man Steven Idlet who had 16 points and 12 rebounds of his own. Very early on, the game started living up to the hype, as a new rivalry had arose between the two Peel Region teams. However, Coach Magley continued to reiterate his message of discipline. Melvin Council, alongside Evaldas Zabas both not only controlled their emotions, but that of their teammates when the game seemed to be getting chippy. "Discipline trumps talent" said Magley, "and at the end of the day discipline is more important than talent. Melvin & Evaldas were calm and stable for us when things got chippy and could have unraveled, they stayed calm." Courtesy of: oursportscentral.com
