Everything could happen in Saporro at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Hokkaido L. and 5th ranked Hitachi Sunrockers had identical 4-8 record. This time Hokkaido L. used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Tokyo 85-72 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-72. American players dominated the game. Quite impressive performance for power forward Jameel Watkins (211-77, college: Georgetown) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: KMG Sports Management) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Forward Darius Rice (208-82, college: Miami, FL) answered with 19 points and 8 rebounds and forward Darryl Webb (198-88, college: Indiana, PA, agency: Pro One Sports) added 14 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Hitachi Sunrockers. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hokkaido L. maintains fourth place with 5-8 record. Loser Hitachi Sunrockers keep the fifth position with nine games lost. Hokkaido L. will face again Hitachi Sunrockers (#6) in Tokyo in the next round.
