Regular Season Round 6: Cieszyn - Mickiewicz 72-90

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Mickiewicz and 10th ranked Cieszyn had identical 1-4 record. But Cieszyn was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Katowice 90-72 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-72. Mickiewicz dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Cieszyn's 34. Mickiewicz forced 27 Cieszyn turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Mateusz Jagiela (190-87) who scored 14 points and 4 assists. point guard Patryk Gospodarek (182-94) chipped in 9 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Four Mickiewicz players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Tomasz Czajkowski (204-82) who recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds and Przemyslaw Raczka (184-90) added 23 points respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Mickiewicz (2-4) moved-up to eighth place in Group B. Cieszyn lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. Mickiewicz will face AZS Pol.Cz-wa (#9) in Czestochowa in the next round. Cieszyn will play on the road against Alba Chorzow and hope to win that game.
