Regular Season Round 5: PGE Turow - Polpharma 86-64
Date: November 9, 2013
Very expected game when 10th ranked Polpharma (1-4) was smashed by sixth ranked PGE Turow (3-1) in Zgorzelec 86-64. The game was mostly controlled by PGE Turow. Polpharma was better in third quarter 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. PGE Turow players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was international Lukasz Wisniewski (186-84, college: Barton County CC, agency: Promotex) who scored 18 points and 9 assists. American forward J.P. Prince (198-87, college: Tennessee) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four PGE Turow players scored in double figures. Lithuanian point guard Ovidijus Varanauskas (187-91) produced 13 points and Serbian Nikola Jeftic (205-87) added 12 points respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. PGE Turow moved-up to third place, which they share with Trefl Sopot. Polpharma at the other side keeps the tenth position with four games lost. PGE Turow's next round opponent will be Kotwica (#8) in Kolobrzeg which should be theoretically another easy game. Polpharma will play at home against Trefl Sopot and hope to win that game.
