Regular Season Round 7: U.Mobitel.CN - Gaz Metan 90-81

Very predictable result in Cluj where fourth ranked U-Mobitelco (5-2) defeated 11th ranked Gaz Metan (2-5) 90-81. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Gaz Metan won third quarter 23-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. U-Mobitelco made 25-of-30 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game, while Gaz Metan only scored eight points from the stripe. U-Mobitelco players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Gaz Metan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Mihai Silvasan (200-85, agency: Court Side) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 5 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!). Montenegrin guard Branko Cuic (197-78, agency: 011 Sports) contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Five U-Mobitelco players scored in double figures. American point guard Kyle Shiloh (191-85, college: Nevada) answered with 16 points and 6 rebounds and the former international swingman Andrei Mandache (191-87, agency: Global Sports Plaza) added 17 points and 4 steals in the effort for Gaz Metan. The victory was the third consecutive win for U-Mobitelco. They maintain fourth place with 5-2 record, which they share with Rovinari. Gaz Metan lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with five games lost. U-Mobitelco's next round opponent will be Pitesti (#8) on the road. Gaz Metan will play against the league's second-placed CSU Sibiu and hope to win that game.
