Regular Season Round 15: Tochigi Brex - Hitachi SR 91-63
Date: November 16, 2013
Rather expected game when 6th ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (4-11) were crushed on the road by third ranked Tochigi Brex (9-6) 91-63 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 91-63. Tochigi Brex dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Hitachi Sunrockers' 26. Tochigi Brex forced 19 Hitachi Sunrockers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 14 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). The former international guard Yuta Tabuse (173-80, college: BYU-Hawaii) helped adding 14 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. The best for the losing side was American forward Darius Rice (208-82, college: Miami, FL) with 13 points and the former international forward Yuki Mitsuhara (198-89) scored 14 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Tochigi Brex. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Toyota Alvark. Hitachi Sunrockers lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. Tochigi Brex will face again Hitachi Sunrockers (#6) in Tokyo in the next round.
