Regular Season Round 13: Shiga L-Stars - Niigata Albirex 61-90

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Shiga. Third ranked Niigata Albirex faced 3rd placed Shiga L-Stars. Guests from Niigata (9-4) smashed host Shiga L-Stars (6-5) 90-61. The game without a history. Niigata Albirex led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Shiga L-Stars' 42. They outrebounded Shiga L-Stars 47-35 including 18 on the offensive glass. Nigerian-American forward Suleiman Braimoh (203-89, college: Rice) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) accounted for 19 points and 5 rebounds. Five Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. Guard Yutaka Yokoe (176-89) came up with 15 points and 4 assists and American power forward Shelton Colwell (202-80, college: Missouri St.) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Shiga L-Stars in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Niigata Albirex have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 9-4 record having just -2 point less than leader Akita NH. Shiga L-Stars lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Niigata Albirex will have a break next round. Shiga L-Stars will play again at home against Niigata Albirex (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
