Regular Season Round 6: Karsiyaka - Tofas 86-67

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Karsiyaka (5-1) crushed at home 6th ranked Tofas (3-3) 86-67 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Karsiyaka. Tofas was better in second period 23-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game, while Tofas only scored eight points from the stripe. Karsiyaka shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. Tofas was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Uruguayan-Spanish power forward Esteban Batista (208-83, agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). American forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Karsiyaka players scored in double figures. American guard Marcus Denmon (190-90, college: Missouri) replied with 20 points and the former international forward Evren Buker (194-85) added 15 points in the effort for Tofas. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Karsiyaka have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Fener.Ulker. Loser Tofas dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Karsiyaka will face Turk Telekom (#12) in Ankara in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tofas will play at home against Trabzonspor (#16) and hope to win that game.
