Regular Season Round 11: I.T.U. - Istanbul DSI 80-76
Date: November 30, 2013
Very predictable result when eighth ranked ITU Istanbul (6-4) defeated at home 14th ranked Istanbul DSI (4-7) 80-76 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-17. But Istanbul DSI won second period 17-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for Nigerian forward Ejike Ugboaja (206-85) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Gorkem Sonmez (195-90, college: Radford, agency: 1x1 Sports) helped adding 22 points and 6 rebounds. Croatian power forward Nenad Delic (210-84, agency: Alti Sport) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds and American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall, agency: Two Points) scored 17 points and 4 assists. Four Istanbul DSI players scored in double figures. Istanbul DSI's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. ITU Istanbul have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted ITU Istanbul maintains eighth place with 6-4 record. Istanbul DSI at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the thirteenth position with seven games lost. ITU Istanbul's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Darussafaka.
