There was an upset when higher ranked Spot Up Medien Baskets (6-4) were edged on the road by tenth ranked Stade (2-8) 78-77 on Sunday. Spot Up Medien Baskets were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Strangely Spot Up Medien Baskets outrebounded Stade 46-23 including a 16-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard Steffen Kiese (189-87) scored 18 points and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Reggie Hopkins (180-88, college: Queens, NC) chipped in 15 points and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side center Maurice Pluskota (208-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and Lukas Meisner (201-95) scored 21 points. Five Stade and four Spot Up Medien Baskets players scored in double figures. Stade maintains tenth position in Group North with 2-8 record, which they share with BSW Sixers and Wolfenbuettel. Spot Up Medien Baskets at the other side keep the fifth place with four games lost. Stade will face higher ranked Bochum (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Spot Up Medien Baskets will play against the league's second-placed SG Schwelmer Baskets having rather not much hope for a victory.
