There was no surprise when 10th ranked Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary (5-12) was defeated at home by sixth ranked BLK Praha (9-8) 69-61 on Sunday. BLK Praha forced 21 Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary turnovers. Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Canadian center Krista Phillips (198-88, college: Michigan) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. The former international guard Darina Johnova (178-85) chipped in 21 points. Sarka Kucerova (181-82) produced 14 points and 7 rebounds and Bosnian guard Irena Vrancic (167-90) added 18 points respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. BLK Praha moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Strakonice. Loser Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary keeps the tenth position with 12 games lost. BLK Praha will face higher ranked IMOS Brno (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary will play against Aldast Strakonice (#6) and hope to win that game.
